The Laboratory Technician is a full-time position that will work with chemicals and carbon fiber based composite materials. This individual will be responsible for weighing and preparing samples for testing using precision test instruments. Additionally, this individual will work with manufacturing to ensure compliance with all processes and procedures. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required for reporting.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Weigh and prepare samples and small batches of composite raw materials for testing and analysis. Testing includes: Fabric Aerial Weight, Resin Content, Solid and Volatile Content, Laminate RC, Fiber Volume and Void Content, Tack, Drape, Gravity, Density, Ply Thickness, Gel Time, Viscosity, Melt Point, Density, Oven Imidization, Crystal Melting.

Primary Job Responsibilities:
Weigh and prepare samples and small batches of composite raw materials for testing and analysis. Testing includes: Fabric Aerial Weight, Resin Content, Solid and Volatile Content, Laminate RC, Fiber Volume and Void Content, Tack, Drape, Gravity, Density, Ply Thickness, Gel Time, Viscosity, Melt Point, Density, Oven Imidization, Crystal Melting.
- Perform production compliance monitoring to ensure processes/procedures are being followed by manufacturing personnel.
- Operate precision measuring and weighing devices and tools
- Review, organize, and report all test results to engineering and quality and ensure proper documentation requirements are fulfilled
- Proactively investigate and trouble-shoot issues with testing as required.
- Utilize Lean practices to maintain high-quality, clean, and efficient department function
- 2-years of similar physical testing of chemicals, resins, composite materials
- Experience in a relevant Quality position such as auditing or compliance monitoring.
- A 2-year college degree in a relevant field is preferred but not required
- Strong communication, organizational and computer-use skills are necessary
- Experience working with and around chemicals and hazardous materials
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, Lab preferred
- Experience with precision measuring devices and tools
- Experience working in a quality control environment
- Experience working in Aerospace, the AS9100 Standard, and a NADCAP environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to communicate observations
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to speak and read English
- Authorized to work in the US (sponsorship is not offered)
